Jean has devoted her life to what she believes in her art. She began painting at 27 and has never stopped; thus, she’s made a career as a artist and nature photographer.
Jean owns and operates Memories of Maine Gallery in the business district of Millinocket where she sells her art, photography and manages a custom framing business.
Jean is a member of Professional Picture Framers of America and strives to educate her customers about the benefits of conservation framing.
A visit to the gallery can keep you entertained for hours. The gallery is 4500 sq. ft. of art, photography, antiques, jewelry and fine hand made gifts.
Jean’s gallery is staffed with friendly professional picture framers who run the frame shop allowing Jean time for personal attention with customers. The frame shop is equipped with a computerized mat cutter that is used to create unique, one-of-a-kind mats to compliment artwork and photography. Jean has designed specialty mats for sale that are not available for purchase in retail stores. Some, however, are available for sale in “Our Store”. Jean also takes orders if you have a special mat you want designed.
Memories of Maine Gallery is in Millinocket, which is one hour North of Bangor, Maine. Millinocket is a scenic community located in the foothills of Mt. Katahdin and is near Baxter State Park. Jean has a summer studio home where she paints located on a lake looking directly at Mt. Katahdin. Jean has always lived in Millinocket and she has accumulated thousands of photographs of the mountain and the surrounding area. She has sold her art and photographs over the years to people from all over the world.
Nubble Lighthouse
When you visit Memories of Maine Gallery you will see evidence of how much Jean loves all of Maine. Jean has an extensive portfolio of Maine lighthouses in artwork and photography.
“It has been a challenge to get to most of Maine’s lights because out of approximately 80 lighthouses, only 12 can be driven to.
I have personally been to 75 of them by Coast Guard, private yacht, helicopter, and sailboats. “
Jean has used her slides to give presentations and talks to schools and various organizations.
"It has been fun learning the history of Maine lights and I enjoy passing those stories on" . Original- $2,000 (Giclee reproductions available)
Although Jean lives in interior Maine, she loves painting seascapes. “I don’t have to see it to paint it because I paint what I feel from within.”
Jean spent four winters living by the ocean and has it in her blood.
Dusk
"Dusk" was painted inside Monroe Saltworks (a pottery shop) as a demonstration to the visiting public.
Jean used nothing except her imagination to paint dusk, a 24 x 36” size in approximately 3 hrs.
Original: $1,500 (Giclee reproductions available)
