"The Closest You'll find To A Bed On The
Ocean....!"
Cape Arundel Inn was built as a stately summer cottage in 1895
on famed Ocean Avenue in
Kennebunkport, Maine.
We are a unique property.
Operating in a neighborhood of grand and stately summer mansions, sitting high on a knoll we are afforded breathtaking views of the sea and crashing surf.
Our views stretch from Goat Island light house to the shore line of Wells, Ogunquit and York. Off to one side sits Walkers Point and beyond it Cape Porpoise.
Leave our front door to walk, jog, bike along Ocean Avenue to Colony Beach, Spouting Rock and Blowing Cave.
Find a niche in the rocks and burrow in with a book. Smell the sea, feel the breeze, relax, contemplate, renew, find inspiration.
The porch is
wonderful and wraps the building. It is a terrific place to settle into the wicker furniture and to take in the sights, sounds and aromas of the sea that stretches before us. Cape Arundel Inn sits high on a coastal knoll and affords its guests sweeping and incomparable views of the Atlantic.
In the morning
lobster boats ply their trade in our front yard. Throughout the day schooners cross before us on their scenic tours. Off on the far horizon tankers ply their route between Boston and Portland.
Pleasure craft of every description, often including "Fidelity", the power boat of
President Bush, "The First Fisherman", fill the sea only steps away from our front porch.
OK - YES - all of our rooms but two have awesome views of the presidential estate. An oceanfront bed and breakfast and restaurant with post card views of a presidential estate.
No where else in this world!
An old proverb speaks to standing on the edge of the ocean and looking out to sea.
When one does Then all of one's cares and worries are behind
them. Join us at Cape Arundel Inn and become a "shirt-tail
relative".
Lodging with very fine views:
Seacrest, the main house is a shingle style summer "cottage" complete with turret. Seven rooms, all large and all with sitting areas. The views from all but one are indescribable and the "all but one" isn't bad either. Some offer ceiling fans, bedding is mixed depending on the room, queens, or kings.
Rockbound, our building on the side, Cape Arundel Inn is a
small compound with three buildings on a large piece of land
sitting high on a knoll above crashing surf. The views will
take your breath away whether relaxing in each rooms sitting
area or in bed or on the grand columned porch.
The Carriage House suite sits on the second level of the
carriage house up a long flight of stairs. Once up there, the
views are superb. Queen bedded, television, large sitting areas
with fireplace and a private deck
All rooms at Cape Arundel Inn are equipped with
telephones with data ports.
All rooms are individually decorated in an eclectic manner
but one that maintains the traditions of the property.
Several of our rooms have fireplaces. Poland Springs
bottled water in all rooms and our bed linens are hand
pressed and crisply finished.
All guests have access to the inn's bikes by
pre-arrangement.
