So, if you’re looking for a romantic bed and breakfast, relaxing getaway, or an activity and fun-filled vacation, Kennebunkport and The Captain Jefferd's Inn should be your first stop.
The Inn’s History
This magnificent building, which now houses The Captain Jefferds Inn was originally built in 1804 by Daniel Walker. Upon completion, it was given as a wedding present to his daughter Mary and her new husband Captain William Jefferds in 1805.
Mr. Jefferds was a seafaring captain and it is said that his wife Mary would stand atop the still present “widows walk,” to watch for her husband’s ship to return from sea. The mansion stayed a private residence until 1982 when it was converted to a bed and breakfast.
In September of 1996 the inn was purchased and completely renovated by the Bartholomew family, who successfully ran it as a bed and breakfast for 9 years. Erik and Sarah Lindblom purchased the inn from the Bartholomeuws in April 2005 The Captain Jefferds Inn welcomes guests to 15 uniquely appointed and individually decorated rooms and suites.
