Built in 1891 as one of Kennebunkport's original bed
and breakfasts, The Beach House has recently undergone an
elegant transformation. The Beach House provides an idyllic
setting for a romantic getaway for two, or a family
vacation. Whether sitting on the Victorian style wrap-around
porch or in the Inn's Great Room and Lounge, guests will
enjoy the expansive views of the sea and rugged coast of
Maine. On cool evenings, a warming fire blazes in
The Great
Room's massive stone fireplace. Open and airy, The Great Room
and Lounge are decorated with a palette of
neutrals, evoking
the colors and scenery found on Maine's coast. A selection
of oversized slip-covered chairs, high back sofas and
chestnut stained rattan chairs with leather
 seating invites
guests to relax and enjoy their surroundings, just as if it
were their very own beach house.

Is there no such thing as an un-inn?
If so, this is it. No cutting-garden
chintz. No reproduction
four-posters. The Beach House, built in 1891 as a B&B fully
renovated last year, is that tonic anomaly; a tailored,
understated hideaway for the 21st century.
All 34 guest rooms are decorated in a
masculine palette of sand and slate,
with rich cocoa and ebony accents. Stripes and other
geometrics supply the action. Lamps are fashioned as tote
palm trees, headboards come snugly upholstered, and walls
are hung with black-and white photographs of beach scenes.
The net effect: tranquilizing, and refreshing.
The Beach House plays more than the good-taste card. Just
steps from the porch is Kennebunk Beach (oh, the views!).
The proprietor also owns the posh, tradition bound White
Barn Inn up the road. But make no mistake; your granny's
seaside getaway never looked this good.

rooms that have been completely redesigned and decorated
with creamy neutrals mixed with elegant textures and
fabrics.
The Beach House offers all of the privacy and amenities of a
luxury country inn in a Victorian setting. Each of the 34
guest rooms offers views of the Atlantic Ocean or of the
Inn's beautifully manicured gardens, and full private bath,
sitting area and king, queen or twin beds. The elegantly
appointed and spacious guest rooms are furnished with
carefully chosen antiques and luxurious fabrics and wall
coverings. Cots and Cribs are available on request and the
Junior Suite offers a luxurious whirlpool bath. All of the
Inn's floors are accessible by elevator, and a handicapped
room is available
