Built in two restored barns dating from 1860's, the restaurant's rustic decor, candle lit white linen tables, and beautiful views from its floor to ceiling picture window create the perfect stage for a romantic retreat or special celebration . The cocktail bar is a magnificent sweep of hammered steel behind which a wall of sleek mirror complete the " art moderne " design. Proprietor Laurence Bongiorno has masterfully transformed the 140 year old New England barn into an internationally recognized fine dining restaurant seating 120. Exemplary service creates an elegant yet relaxing dining experience. Chef Jonathan Cartwright, continuing the restaurant's tradition of serving the finest contemporary New England cuisine with a European flair, changes the restaurant's menu weekly, highlighting seafood from the icy waters off Kennebunkport as well as native game and poultry. Dinner at The White Barn Inn restaurant is a four-course prix fixe meal priced at $91 per person (not including tax, gratuity, wine or liquor). The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 6 pm to 9:30 pm Friday through Sunday evenings, dinner is served from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Reservations are required and gentlemen are required to wear jackets, ties are optional. A credit card is requested to secure your reservation; there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Private Reserve: The Wine Room at The White Barn Inn The Wine Room offers an elegant and unique atmosphere in which to entertain and can accommodate ten to fourteen guests for private dining events. Located in our expanded wine cellar which showcases up to 7,000 bottles of hand-picked wines, The Wine Room has been created with an attentive eye to every detail. With a discrete separate entrance found at the end of an inlaid stone walkway, the room evokes a decidedly rustic, yet warm and rich ambiance. The custom dining table of imported Indian granite surrounds a wrap around black leather banquette. The mahogany and red cedar wine casements are enhanced by a specially commissioned mural by local artist Judith Hardenbrook depicting the lush countryside of Tuscany. An antiqued Italian chiaro marble floor and soft lighting complete the private dining experience that is a perfect setting for a romantic dinner, special occasion or small dinner party. Of the more than 7,000 bottles of wine that are housed in the room, numerous vintages are exclusive to The White Barn Inn and the region. The wine list is balanced and moderately priced. A ten dollar per person supplement above the normal prix fixe applies for private dining at the White Barn Inn. Each course is paired with the appropriate wine.
